Writing Docs Breaks Your Flow

Context Switching Kills Productivity

Stopping to type lengthy documentation breaks your coding flow. You lose focus and momentum switching between writing code and writing about code.

RSI From Endless Typing

Between code, Slack, emails, and docs, developers type thousands of words daily. Repetitive strain injuries are a real occupational hazard.

Documentation Gets Neglected

When documentation is tedious, it gets skipped. Undocumented code becomes tech debt that slows down the entire team.

Voice-Powered Documentation

Whisper Dictator lets you speak documentation while your hands stay on the keyboard. 100% local processing means no code context goes to the cloud.

  • Dictate without leaving your IDE
  • Works offline - no internet required
  • No cloud processing of your code context

Developer-Specific Questions

Does it work with VS Code / JetBrains / Vim?

Yes! Whisper Dictator uses a global hotkey that works in any Windows application. VS Code, all JetBrains IDEs, Vim, Neovim, Sublime Text, terminal emulators - anywhere you can type, you can dictate.

Is my code context sent anywhere?

No. All processing happens locally on your machine. No code context, variable names, file contents, or any other data is ever transmitted. Perfect for proprietary codebases.

How accurate is it with technical terms?

Whisper AI handles technical terminology well, including programming concepts, framework names, and common developer jargon. For specialized terms, you might need occasional corrections, but it's surprisingly good.

Can I use it for commit messages?

Absolutely. Put your cursor in the commit message field, hold the hotkey, speak your commit message, release. Works great for verbose commit messages without the typing.

What about code reviews and PR descriptions?

Perfect use case. Dictate detailed PR descriptions, code review comments, and documentation updates. Much faster than typing out lengthy technical explanations.

Does it conflict with IDE hotkeys?

The default hotkey is AltGr, which doesn't conflict with most IDE shortcuts. You can also change it to Right Ctrl, Right Shift, or other keys via the tray menu.
